Where Should Your Photo Booth Be Placed? (The Secret to Keeping It Busy)

If over a decade of setting up Photo Booth and Selfie-Mirrors has taught us one undeniable rule, it’s this: Visibility dictates interaction.
Put simply: if your guests can’t see the photo setup, they won’t use it. Here is how to position your Photo Booth or Selfie-Mirror to keep footfall high all night long.
The biggest mistake a venue can make is tucking the photo experience into a separate room, corridor or annex.
Think about what happens when a venue puts the bar in a totally different room from the main party space it splits the crowd, diverts footfall and fractures the energy of the night.
Putting your Photo Booth or Selfie-Mirror in a separate area does the exact same thing. People don’t naturally wander down hallways looking for entertainment, they stay where the music, drinks and people are.
- The Visibility Rule: Photo entertainment is interactive by nature. People decide to grab a prop or step up to a mirror because they see other guests laughing and taking photos first. Front and centre placement creates an instant magnet for footfall.
To get the absolute maximum value out of your hire, the setup needs to sit directly inside the main function space.
Ideal placement spots include:
- Near the Main Bar: Where guests naturally congregate and wait for drinks.
- Within Line-of-Sight of the Dance Floor: So, guests taking a break from dancing can seamlessly step into the shot.
- Along High-Traffic Walkways: Where people walk past repeatedly throughout the evening.
When guests can see the setup from their tables or the bar, interaction stays non-stop throughout the night.
Sometimes, historic Kent venues or specific room dimensions mean you simply must place the Photo Booth in a side room or restricted alcove.
If you find yourself stuck with a restricted layout, there is one secret trick to keeping your footfall high: Put the DJ on the mic.
Ask your DJ or host to make periodic announcements throughout the evening, letting guests know where the Photo Booth or Selfie-Mirror is located. A simple shout-out, bridges the physical gap and directs traffic straight to your setup.
