Weddings are joyous occasions and one of the most fun parts of the day is often when everyone gets up and lets loose on the dance floor after the ceremony, speeches and wedding breakfast have finished.
Of course, your first dance song is a really important choice, but don’t leave the rest of your playlist to chance! You don’t need to dictate every song that your DJ will play, but there are a few classics that will definitely get everyone up and moving.
For instance, it’s hard not to dance when you hear “I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor…” by the Arctic Monkeys blaring out. Or what about a pop classic like “Kiss” by Prince? This one fits with the upbeat dance floor theme as well as love and passion.
Or what about a bit of Taylor Swift? “Lover” is a popular first dance song, but if you want to get everyone moving after you and your partner have had your moment, a bit of “Shake It Off” will probably do the trick.
Then there are the classics, like “Macarena”, that seem to be compulsory at any wedding, or large celebratory event for that matter.
To make your wedding party really fun, it’s great to ask your guests to suggest songs to be played ahead of the day. You can pass their list of requests to the DJ and then enjoy as your friends and family pack out the dance floor. This adds a really personal touch to the day too.
