By now, most people are familiar with the idea of having a photo booth at their wedding, but there’s a new kid (well, newish) on the block: selfie mirrors. If you’ve heard the term but are wondering what they are and why they’re so much fun, we’ll share what you need to know.
Let’s start with the main difference between a selfie mirror and a photo booth: a selfie mirror takes full-length pictures, whereas a photo booth typically only takes head and shoulders shots.
This makes selfie mirrors a great choice for weddings, because your guests will likely have curated their whole outfits and be looking for a chance to show them off in all their glory! The other advantage to selfie mirrors – or magic mirrors as they’re sometimes called – is that you can fit up to 15 people in front of them. That means you won’t be trying to cram people into a smaller space like you would a photo booth.
Don’t get us wrong, those intimate shots of everyone squishing in together are wonderful, but sometimes you want a bit more space to spread out.
There are different frames available for the selfie mirror too, so you can choose one to match the overall look of your wedding. You can still have all the usual props, so you and your guests can be as silly or as sensible as you’d like when you’re taking pictures together.
What’s more, Pinterest pointed out earlier this year that wedding photography is moving towards capturing authentic moments rather than having curated group shots and a selfie mirror fits this trend well. You can grab semi-organised moments of fun and frivolity throughout the night, without having to take anything too seriously.
So, if you are planning your wedding, make sure you consider whether a selfie mirror could be the right option to keep both you and your guests entertained into the evening, while also capturing special memories.
