What Size Dance Floor Do I Need For My Wedding?

For many couples getting ready to tie the knot, a dance floor is an essential for their wedding reception. And with good reason – it’s a lot of fun to get everyone up and showing off their best moves, whether to classic tunes or the latest bangers.

But how big of a dance floor do you really need for your wedding? And how can you make it even more special?

How big does a dance floor need to be?
This will, in part, be dictated by your wedding venue and what space is available. But, if you’re having a wedding for 100 or more people, there should be room for a good sized dance floor.

When you’re looking at your options for wedding dance floor hire, we always recommend basing it on the number of guests you are inviting. So, for up to 100 guests, a dance floor that is 12 ft x 12 ft is usually sufficient.

If your wedding will be a little bigger – with up to 150 guests – in our experience a 14 ft x 14 ft dance floor is about right. And then for weddings of up to 200 guests, we suggest a 16 ft x 16 ft dance floor to give everyone space to show off their moves.

How will people know it’s a dance floor?
Aside from the DJ booth or live band that will likely be on the other side of it, the best way to show your guests where you want them to strut their stuff is by choosing a light up LED white dance floor is a great option.

This clearly marks the dancing area and looks incredibly stylish. The best part is that it can easily be installed in any location, with the twinkling LED lights below the surface of the floor making it really sparkle.

And if you want to fill the dance floor, you can’t beat classics like Whitney Houston’s “I Want To Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, which was revealed as the song that’s most often added to wedding playlists.
